What is the case about?

According to the complaint, H. Yadav was posted as Additional SP in Sakti until January 7, 2026, after which he was transferred to Bemetara. Due to the unavailability of government accommodation in Bemetara, he had reportedly stored his personal belongings in a locked room within the SDOP office premises in Sakti.

It is stated that the local SDOP and senior police officials were aware of this arrangement.

Allegation of unauthorized removal of belongings

The incident reportedly came to light on June 5, when the officer was informed by a former staff member, Kishan Raj, that the Cyber Cell team was preparing to shift his belongings from the room.

Following this, Yadav contacted the Reserve Inspector (RI) of Sakti, who allegedly assured him that the belongings would not be moved without his authorized representative being present.

Goods allegedly loaded into truck without inventory

However, later that evening around 6:30 PM, Yadav was informed by Sub-Inspector C.P. Kanwar that his entire belongings had already been loaded into a truck.

The officer has alleged that the room was opened without permission and that no inventory list, panchnama (official seizure record), or videography was conducted before shifting the items. The truck carrying the belongings is currently stationed at the Bemetara police line.

Demand for FIR and legal action

Yadav has demanded that the entire process be videographed again in the presence of his family or authorized representative to ensure that no items are missing or damaged.

He has also warned that if strict action is not taken against the accused Sub-Inspector and the Cyber Cell team, he will approach the court seeking justice.

Police administration’s response

Sakti Superintendent of Police Praful Thakur  has presented a different version of the incident in Media. He stated that the officer had been transferred several months ago and that the office premises were required for administrative functioning due to limited space in the newly formed district.

According to him, it is not practical to indefinitely store personal belongings in a functioning government office, and necessary action was taken to clear the space for official use.

Controversy escalates

The incident has triggered internal tension within the police department, with both sides maintaining opposing claims. While the former officer is demanding criminal action, the district police administration has defended the move as an administrative necessity.

The matter is now likely to escalate further as both departmental and legal scrutiny is expected in the coming days.
